BARBADIAN TRIATHLETE MATTHEW WRIGHT covered himself in glory when he won the Quebec Elite Grand Prix triathlon in Montreal on Saturday.

Wright won in a time of 57 minutes, 25.2 seconds from Canadian Francis Lefebvre, who was 12 seconds behind.

“All in all, it was a really good race. I never had to extend myself too much throughout the race, and always felt in control. I am happy to get my first win (and podium) for the season,” Wright told NATION SPORT.

Wright, who is currently ranked 11th in the International Triathlon Union’s Americas Continental rankings, said he had a great swim, moving into second position after about 200 metres. He remained there for the rest of the 750-metre swim. (EZS/PR)
