THE ENTIRE MANAGEMENT unit of the West Indies women’ team has paid the price for the Caribbean team’s dismal showing at the World Cup.
Investigations by the WEEKEND NATION have revealed that the seven-member team operations unit, including head coach Vasbert Drakes and assistant coaches Ezra Moseley and Stuart Williams, will be replaced for next month’s home series against Sri Lanka.
The shake-up comes in the aftermath of the disastrous run at the last July’s World Cup in England where the 2016 World Twenty20 champions won only two of their seven group matches and failed to advance to the semi-finals.
While Cricket West Indies (CWI) has made no official announcement on the developments, informed sources said members of the management unit were informed early last month that their services would not be retained for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, which serves as the first round of qualifiers for the 2021 World Cup.
