COMPLAINTS OF RISING food prices from shoppers have got louder since the increase of the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL) from two to ten per cent on July 1.
Some Barbadians say the already high cost of living has worsened.
“The prices were already high, but now it is really hitting me hard in my pocket,” said mother of two Michelle Robinson yesterday in a comment that was typical of shoppers who spoke to the WEEKEND NATION.
However, a check by this newspaper of four major supermarkets – Carlton and A1, Popular, Jordan’s and Massy – showed price differences on a selected number of items since the levy increase. (RB)
