‘Don’t give in’ to crime

DAYS AFTER THE island eclipsed last year’s murder record, Government minister Donville Inniss has urged accountants to give up those companies and businesses whose financial transactions suggest links to the drug trade or other illegal activities.

Inniss was weighing in on the issue of escalating gun violence and the increased murder rate that has the public calling for the Barbados Defence Force to join the Royal Barbados Police Force on the streets.

The island’s murder rate now stands at 24, two more than those committed in 2016.

The Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development, was speaking at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados’ (ICAB) workshop at the Hilton Barbados yesterday. (HLE)
