Deacons pound Cawmere

ANYONE who believes that there is no volleyball life at Deacons after the Oxleys, Mayers and Culpeppers will not be numbered among Cawmere players.

A young generation from that lauded Deacons group pounded Cawmere 25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21 in a virtual slugfest in the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball knockouts at Oldbury on Wednesday night.

Thankfully, Andriy Stapleton, son of Andrew Culpepper, is yet to recover from his knee injury and that gave Cawmere some hope of winning their third game in succession.

However, the defence and attack of Ahkeem Mayers, son of Rodney Mayers, Ashe Oxley, son of Elwyn Oxley and Ackeel Oxley, son of Patrick Oxley, proved potent enough for Deacons to take the bruiser. (KB)
