LOCAL ARTISANS WERE given an opportunity to display their craft when the Limegrove Summer Craft Fair came off in the Palm Courtyard, Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, Holetown, St James yesterday.

Andrew Moore of Paradise Yard Designs, who specialises in colourful bird creations, said he started making the art, which includes wine bottle holders and garden ornaments, three years ago out of PVC pipe. The pieces also include ducks, flamingos and pelicans. Moore said the pelicans capture the symbol of the bird which adorns Barbados’ coat of arms.

Rae Voisin’s T-shirts boasted hand-drawn illustrations.

“I call it wearable art,” she said, adding that the pieces were spiritually inspired and based on ancient Kemetic goddesses. The two-year-old clothing line is called Egypsy. (LK)
