St George, St Joseph folk feeling neglected

Residents in St George and St Joseph continue to grapple with prolonged water outages, some left wondering when improvements will occur and others feeling neglected after months without adequate supplies.

Adrian Went, who has been living in St George for 59 years, said water shortages were nothing new in the community. He has grown accustomed to it and ensures he is properly prepared for whenever an outage occurrs.

Went explained that water sometimes returned during the night and he and his family used the opportunity to complete as many household tasks as possible.

“The water usually comes on around 11 p.m. We use that time to take a shower, wash and do other things. You have to work with what you’re getting. On mornings you would get up and get ready for work and realise the water pressure gradually gone down,” he explained.
