IN A MATTER OF WEEKS, all eyes will be on Barbados as people from across the region and the Caribbean diaspora flock here for CARIFESTA XIII.

Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley said all systems were a go as Barbados aims to host one of the most spectacular events in the festival’s history.

CARIFESTA XIII will be held from August 17 to 27 and on Friday, the minister, along with Cranston Browne, chief executive officer of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), the producer of the event, and the entire oversight committee, toured the six venues to host the events – the Daphne Joseph-Hackett Theatre, the Wildey Gymnasium, Christ Church Foundation School, Combermere School, Lester Vaughan School and Alexandra School.

Speaking to the media after his first stop at the Daphne Joseph-Hackett Theatre in Queen’s Park, Lashley said he was pleased with the progress made although the venue was behind schedule and over the budgeted cost. (SDB Media)
