WI stifled by Sri Lanka

West Indies were put to the sword by Sri Lanka as the visiting team rattled up an imposing score on the second day of the second Test match in Antigua yesterday.

After the shellacking they suffered in the opening Test last week, the Sri Lankans rebounded in emphatic style with a first innings score of 549 for nine declared – the first time they have made over 500 in the West Indies.

By the close of play, the Windies replied with 58 for one on a placid surface at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium – still 491 runs behind going into the third day.

They lost the wicket of Brandon King for 17. John Campbell is on 31 not out with a stunning cover drive which sailed over the boundary for six. With him is Kavem Hodge who will resume on six not out. He has so far struggled for 42 balls in a testing hour at the crease, having faced 41 balls with two narrow escapes.
