AUBURN – Barbadian jockey Rocco Bowen produced an upset in the US$79 250 Washington Oaks on Sunday when he guided longshot Little Dancer to a thrilling victory in the feature at Emerald Downs.

Burdened with the longest odds in the five-horse field, the 28-year-old Bowen combined with the bay filly to edge the three-year-old fillies by half-length in a trip over a mile and eighth, in a time of one minute, 50.05 seconds.

Heavy favourite Top Quality finished last.

“It’s a horse race, anything can happen, but I had confidence in this horse,” Bowen said afterwards. (CMC)
