Hot at the pump

LAST AUGUST, when this newspaper carried a report on oil prices around the world, Barbados stood at number 23 along with Malta and New Zealand in charging US$1.44 per litre. 

Almost a year later, Barbados has jumped ahead of several countries, charging US$1.57 per litre, the same as Denmark.

The other countries in the top ten are Uruguay ($1.60), Italy ($1.62), Greece ($1.62), Israel ($1.64), Netherlands ($1.64), Monaco ($1.68), Norway ($1.79), Iceland ($1.81) and Hong Kong, which at US$1.90, charges the most for gasoline among the 104 countries surveyed.
