Phone policy plea

A BAN ON students bringing cellphones to school has not worked and Barbadians must now give the new policy a chance to work.

Parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Education Senator Harry Husbands (below) made that argument yesterday as debate continues on the end of the ban from September. harry-husbands

“I think we need to give that policy some time to operate and see how it can be tweaked and what changes are necessary to make it viable and useful,” he said.

The statement by Husbands was a clear indication that the ministry had not had second thoughts about the measure, which continues to stir mixed reaction from parents, educations and even students. (WILLCOM)
