THE Emancipation Cup continues to create a social haven for the youth of Barbados involved in football and this year is no different.
The seven-year tournament, which is being played in conjunction with the Barbados Football Association (BFA), the Ministry of Community Development and the Division of Youth Affairs, is broken into three zones – Northern, Central and South.
The club tournament, which has seen 11 clubs register for participation, began last Sunday and is set to end on August 1. Games are to be played at Mile-And-A-Quarter, the Cave Hill Campus, Dover and Silver Sands.
Tournament coordinator Simeon Allsopp said that ages 17 to 21 were considered “troublesome” years for some and the tournament would be used to help develop the game within the communities. (RA)
