OPPOSITION LEADER Mia Mottley has called the planned march by trade unions from Queen’s Park to Parliament Buildings an unprecedented reaction to the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL) and a mature response instead of taking industrial action.
But Member of Parliament Donville Inniss has dismissed the march on Tuesday as a fitness exercise and show of muscle to satisfy membership of the unions.
Inniss was speaking immediately after Mottley and her Barbados Labour Party team held a mass canvass, in support of BLP candidate Sandra Husbands, through his St James South constituency yesterday.
Mottley told the media that the fact that four of the island’s largest trade unions had banded together to hold a march from Queen’s Park to Parliament against the ten per cent NSRL was unprecedented. (HLE)
