SAFE won’t pay up, say staffers

ONE OF THE island’s leading security firms is being accused of treating its employees unfairly and denying them vacation leave.

William Thompson is among several security guards who have charged that SAFE Security Consultants Inc. has not granted them leave or vacation pay.

Describing it as “modern-day slavery”, the 47-year-old told the WEEKEND NATION he has been working at SAFE for over three years.

Thompson said during that time he had done everything in his power to get his employers to pay up, including taking his case to the Labour Department. (RB)
