Faded red bricks

Share post:

Today we continue our look at abandoned government buildings.

ONE OF THE features of Garrison Savannah is the old-style red brick buildings, protected as historical treasures under the Barbados National Trust.

However, like too many such buildings, two of them – the former headquarters of the CXC and the former offices of the Land Registry/Town Planning Department – are empty and decaying.

The buildings are located near the road facing the racetrack, close to the similarly red-bricked Barbados Museum, view of passing traffic and horse racing fans.

When the WEEKEND NATION arrived, tourists were taking pictures in front of the building as if it is already a ruin although it may well be heading there should nothing be done to arrest the decay. (CA)

Please read the full story in today’s Weekend Nation, or in the eNATION edition.
