ACCLAIMED LATE MUSICIAN Adrian “Boo” Husbands will be honoured at this year’s First Citizens Pan Fusion.

The announcement was made by chief executive officer of the National Cultural Foundation (NCF), Cranston Browne, at the launch of the event yesterday evening at First Citizens Investment Services’ offices in One Welches, St Thomas.

Husbands, who died in January, was revered in the local entertainment fraternity as a talented musician and a lover of all genres.

Browne said that when the event, dubbed Legends And Prodigies, is held on July 14, there would be a special tribute in a segment dedicated to Husbands. It would highlight his musical genius as well as his beloved former homeland, Chimborazo, in St Joseph.

Producer of Pan Fusion, Karen Pestaina, said the tribute to Husbands would be staged in the first of four sections in which the event would be divided when it is held at Ilaro Court.

First Citizens Pan Fusion signals the start of the Pan Perfect weekend that concludes with Pan Pun De Sand on July 16.

With a patronage of over 1 000 at the events last year, Browne has promised connoisseurs of steel pan music a “pantastic” time. He said while the events might not attract mass numbers, they were certainly making an indelible mark on the festival.

“You can expect the usual pantastic experience with a line-up highlighting the best of local, regional and international musicians performing various genres of music, fused with steel pan music from some of the finest pannists, saxophonists and percussionists in the region,” he said.

Since its inception seven years ago, First Citizens has been the title sponsor of Pan Fusion.

CEO Carole Eleuthere-Jn Marie said: “Our support for Crop Over and Pan Fusion has always been an easy decision to make because we, too, see Crop Over as more than just a carnival. Pan Fusion adds that flavouring that we all love, through the merging of the sweet sounds of the steel pan and the creativity of our talented people.” (SDB Media)
