A GREAT FEELING but a pleasant surprise.
That was the reaction of driver Leslie Alleyne after he and navigator Chris O’Neal were declared winners of the Barbados Rally Club’s 60th anniversary Sol June Safari last Sunday.
Driving the Simpson Motors/Shell Spirax/Shell Rimula/Maxxis Isuzu D-Max, they amassed a total of 990 penalties in the 17-hour, 150-mile event on a route between Applewhaites and Vaucluse, in St Thomas.
It was the same start and finish points used for the inaugural event on June 16, 1957. (TT)
