A THREE-MAN TEAM from the Barbados Apiculture Association has removed the colony of around 80 000 bees which was responsible for yesterday’s death of Nicholas “Ninja” Shepherd.

The 35-year-old father of four was stung while picking mangoes from a tree near his Marchfield Close, St Philip home.

Association member Colin Maynard said the bees were the usual Italian bees found in Barbados.

He noted that they are usually calm but they attack when suddenly disturbed. (SB)
