Barbados teams going after water polo medals

MEMBERS OF THE Barbados Water Polo team will be looking to win medal at this year’s Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation Championships (CCCAN). 

Twenty- one members left the island’s shores this morning, to join ten other competing nations, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva, where competition begins today and runs until next Wednesday.

This is the first time the championships will be held in the twin island, and only the second time in the English-speaking Caribbean.

Barbados make up part of the 21 competing teams including Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Bahamas, Cuba, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Guatemala.

They will be spread over the Under-18 and Senior divisions. The most popular division will be the open male, in which ten teams are registered to compete. (RA)

Junior Team: Abijah Beckles, Nathan James, Lamar Mayers, Gabriel Mayers, Jonathan Bryan, Dave Searles, Anij Brewster, Luke Kelshall, Xavier Smith-Taylor, Darien Maynard, Tyrese Beckles; Ryan Forde (Head coach), Laszlo Hruza (Assistant coach).
