Simpson looking to move up

NINE-TIME national squash champion Shawn Simpson is looking to improve his world ranking in the second edition of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc./Tourism Development Corporation Barbados Squash Open.

The professional tournament, which runs from June 27 to 30, is under the auspices of the Professional Squash Association, an international body.

It has attracted 32 players from British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Colombia, England, Guyana, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States.

“Playing in the first tournament last year was definitely welcoming from the point of view of being the first tournament of that level in Barbados,” Simpson told a recent press conference at the Barbados Olympic Association’s Wildey headquarters.” (RA)
