AFTER CAPTURING THREE riding titles last year, Barbadian jockeys continue to excel across the North American circuit. This year no fewer than 17 Bajan jockeys are flying the national flag in a quest for more glory at five different racing venues in Canada and the United States.

Veteran Patrick Husbands, without a title for the last two years, remains the most decorated of the jockeys, with seven riding titles and seven Sovereign Awards.

Rico Walcott has dominated the Northlands Park circuit in Alberta the last six years while Rocco Bowen, having broken new grounds in the United States at Portland Meadows in Oregon, added the Emerald Downs in Auburn title to his growing résumé.

Chris Husbands also triumphed at the Assiniboia Downs in Winnipeg last year. (LY)
