Warders ‘sick and tired’

SOME PRISON OFFICERS are so fed up with the way they are being treated by management that they are planning to take sick leave.

However, legal representative for the Prison Officers’ Association, Gregory Nicholls, said he was unaware that any planned sickout at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds in St Philip was looming.

Nicholls made the announcement during a press conference at the headquarters of the National Union of Public Workers yesterday afternoon that was called to highlight some of the issues facing prison officers.

With the law barring the Prison Officers’ Association from speaking publicly, Nicholls said they had retained his services to speak on their behalf. (RB)
