COPACABANA BEACH CLUB on Bay Street, St Michael, will be transformed next year into what the British transatlantic tour operator Virgin Holidays calls the world’s first departure beach.

So, instead of spending the time after checking in at the confines of the airport departure lounge, tourists can instead have a good Bajan lime at Browne’s Beach.

It is the latest tourism development along the Bay Street seafront, and follows the Hyatt Centric hotel, which has generated controversy partly because it will be 15 storeys high.

The site of the departure beach lounge will be redeveloped and feature a range of exclusive amenities for visitors on the last day of their stay. (AD)
