The state-owned Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has been accused by Opposition Leader, Bishop Joseph Atherley of censoring news in Government’s favour.
He expressed this view during debate on the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment Bill) 2019 in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Atherley said there were some signs that news output seemed to be filtered or censored, and referenced the recent town hall meeting on the proposed Hyatt Development on Lower Bay Street, St Michael.
“I saw on CBC news clips which represented some of the output from that town hall meeting. I was not there. Persons spoke in clear and optimistic terms of the development and its potential. I saw no opposing or contrary opinion on the matter.” (JS)
