Speed, spills and Panton

THE FINAL DAY of Sol Rally Barbados attracted thousands of spectators from all walks of life.

There was nary a free spot on the hillsides and roadways, as car after car zoomed past the vantage points yesterday.

Racing fan Andrew Jackson felt this year’s rally event was different to last year.

“We don’t have as many international entrants, so it is more a local feat, although we have [Jamaican] Jeffrey Panton. In terms of overall camaraderie between the people, it is a lot better and closer, but competition-wise it’s a fairly simple rally,” he said. (RA)
