THE CURTAIN HAS come down on the Ninth European Film Festival being hailed as the most extensive collection of European films to be shown in Barbados to date.
People involved in various areas of the arts, diplomats and some local film producers joined European Union Ambassador Daniela Tramacere at Olympus VIP Theatres last week for the official launch of the festival.
Guests enjoyed cocktails before sitting down to view the opening film, the Italian documentary Fiore At Sea produced by Gianfranco Rossi.
The one-week festival featured 24 films from 14 countries.
Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley was among the guests and in a brief address before the screening, he spoke about the potential economic benefits to Barbados if the local film industry was fully developed. (GC)
