THE BARBADOS PORT INC. is pouring a million dollars into the restoration of the oldest lighthouse on the island.

Gordon’s Lighthouse, assembled at Atlantic Shores, Christ Church in 1852, is the second sentinel of the coast being returned to its former glory.

This has been revealed by chief executive officer (CEO) at the Barbados Port Inc., David Jean-Marie, who, along with CEO of Innotech, Martin DaSilva, and finance director of Hinds Transport, Dave Hinds, toured the site yesterday.

Hinds Transport is undertaking the renovation of the 98-foot, 1875 East Point Lighthouse in St Philip, at its own expense as a gift to Barbados, while Innotech has been contracted by the Barbados Port Inc., to repair the cast iron 90-foot lighthouse named after its Scottish designer Alexander Gordon.
