THE BELL has rung again for another Barbados qualifier at the upcoming IAAF World Championships in London.
Olympic Games’ first-timer Tia-Adana Belle qualified for the championships with a lifetime best of 55.42 seconds in winning the women’s 400-metre hurdles at the NCAA Division 2 Track and Field Championships in Alabama on Saturday.
Competing at the Gulf Shores Sports Complex in Florida for her college, St Augustine’s, Belle surpassed her previous personal best of 55.82 in dipping under the qualifying standard of 56.10 seconds.
In the process, Belle eclipsed two marks which she established last year as she shattered her own facility record of 56.13 seconds and the NCAA Division 2 record of 55.82 she had set last year. (EZS)
