King exits French Open qualifiers

THE KING OF SWING is one and done at Roland Garros.

Darian King’s quest to make the main draw of a Grand Slam will have to wait until Wimbledon as the top-ranked Bajan tennis pro bowed out of the French Open qualifying rounds yesterday.

Playing on court ten against world No.148 Marton Fucsovics in his Roland Garros debut, the 25-year-old, 14th seed never bounced back from being broken in the first game and suffered a tough 6-4, 6-2 loss to the lesser ranked Hungarian.

“We probably had the wrong game plan because I played okay and didn’t make any mistakes but I made the first big mistake of the match and he got settled in so it was tough to get back on track,” explained King. (JM)
