BRITAIN’S CANDIDATE for the job of director of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr David Nabarro, is counting on Barbados’ backing.

The 67-year-old medical doctor was in Barbados as part of a global sweep of countries whose vote he is soliciting on May 23 when the election takes place.

“Although I can’t go to every country in the world, Barbados had to be visited by me because it is one of the most significant countries in the Caribbean,” Nabarro said during a SUNDAY SUN interview at the British High Commission’s official residence last week.

“Barbados is a country that has consistently adopted policies that are focusing on people’s health and has also produced many leaders in health who are active throughout the world.” (GC)
