Help pours in for beaten girl

IN AN OUTPOURING of compassion, several Barbadians yesterday rushed to help the Lester Vaughn teenager who was the victim of a savage beating by her schoolmates.

Some who had witnessed the stomach-churning video of Wednesday’s assault and others who read the mother’s account of the unfolding events, were moved to donate towards her medical bills.

On Thursday, the viral video of the student fleeing her attackers before she was cornered and pummelled with blows to the body and head, was picked up by the NATION team.

When her mother, Marcia Carrington, was contacted, she gave a painful account of her daughter’s ordeal along with the injuries and revealed to the WEEKEND NATION that she was struggling to get the money for an all-important CAT scan. She had already paid out around $500 in medical bills that included x-rays, medication and doctor’s visit. (AC)
