NEW ZEALAND’S GOVERNOR GENERAL Dame Patsy Reddy has ended a whirlwind visit to Barbados, confident that the ties between the two countries will be even stronger.
Speaking at a Hilton Barbados reception on Monday on the eve of her departure Dame Patsy said her country was “pleased” to be able to provide Barbados with assistance and support in the areas of agriculture and youth empowerment, and to strengthen people-to-people links through its New Zealand development scholarship programme from which several Barbadians and other scholars from the Caribbean have benefited.
The visit provided “an excellent opportunity to recognise and celebrate the strong and positive relationship” between Barbados and New Zealand, the Governor General added.
She acknowledged the long-standing links between the two countries in cricket, and in cooperation on the international stage on climate change and small island issues. (GC)
