Auditors: Use us more

THE INSTITUTE of Internal Auditors Barbados Chapter (IIABC) wants businesses to make greater use of this group of professionals.

Yesterday, senior officials from that institute told members of the media that the main challenges were getting organisations to understand their responsibility and the importance of having an internal auditor.

“It’s a lack of knowledge of what our responsibility is and what our authority is [that’s the challenge],” president Eric Small said.

“As an internal auditor I see [us] as the conscience of the organisations. That little voice that tells you you’re going a little off track, this is what you need to do to get back on track,” he added. (AD)
