THE BARBADOS WORKERS’ UNION (BWU) has submitted its pay request to Government for the public officers it represents but the union is warning that an across-the-board wage freeze is a non-starter.
Dwaine Paul, deputy general secretary of the BWU, said that while the union was not prepared to say how much it was asking for, it recognised that Government was in a difficult financial state.
Public officers last received a pay rise eight years ago.
Speaking to the WEEKEND NATION after attending the Barbados Employers’ Confederation annual general meeting this week at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Paul said negotiations with Government had started and would continue. (GE)Â
