IN THE FACE OF A LABEL “enemy of the state”, attorney at law and social activist David Comissiong says he is unfazed as he presses on with a lawsuit challenging the granting of permission for the construction of the controversial Hyatt Hotel.

Speaking yesterday on the steps of the Supreme Court Complex, Comissiong said he would stand up for the critical principle of “citizen power and citizen engagement” in response to the attacks made by Government ministers.

“I have been told [I can] pack my bags and leave Barbados by a minister of Government. I have been castigated by a minister of Government for daring to speak to the Barbadian people through the news media about this matter – one of fundamental public interest,” he said.

Comissiong is seeking to have a judicial review of Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s decision that granted permission for the Hyatt to be constructed in Bay Street, St Michael. (TKS)
