UWI beat Maple in grand style

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Sagicor UWI won a rain-affected contest against Home Improvement & Hardware Supplies Maple in emphatic fashion as the Barbados Cricket Association’s Sagicor Twenty20 competition entered its second phase yesterday.

UWI romped to a nine-wicket victory in grand style under the Duckworth/Lewis system after rain intervened at Queen’s Park.

Set 48 to win off seven overs, UWI raced to 50 for one off 4.1 overs, replying to Maple’s 104 for seven off 18.3 overs.

Leniko Boucher (16) gave the innings a brisk start with sixes off the first two deliveries of the innings. Nicholas Kirton maintained the tempo, smashing two sixes and two fours in scoring 23 not out off 12 deliveries.(PH)
