THE BARBADOS Under-21s stalled the flight of UWI Blackbirds ‘B’ in the Barbados Netball Association’s Division 1 competition with a 53-22 victory at the Netball Stadium on Saturday night.

Leading the way to their 31-goal margin of victory was goal shooter Shonica Wharton, who sunk 27 of her 33 attempts.

The Under-21s’ early fast pace with the first combination of players on court helped Wharton to net five straight goals at the beginning of the first quarter.

Blackbirds goal shooter Monique James was able to strategically position herself to capture a pass to allow them to make their first goal after the Under-21 squad had tallied seven. She went on to net 14 of her 19 attempts. (RG)
