Still working with private haulers

ALMOST A YEAR later, and still no sign of the new Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) trucks.

And a trade unionist is mystified, saying if the trucks were coming then it was “a well-kept secret”.

Requesting anonymity, the unionist said the SSA’s fleet needed to be revamped.

“Our trucks need relief and the only way is to bring in new trucks. It’s been a year now and nothing, I can’t say why. We’ve been promised trucks for a long time. There was even a proposed programme by the previous administration for new trucks every five years; I don’t know what happened to that,” he said.
