$200 000 to host Davis Cup

APPARENTLY, VICTORY COMES at a cost. A steep one too.

The Barbados Tennis Association (BTA) does have a price to pay to return to Group I, having revealed that it will cost close to $200 000 to host this current Davis Cup campaign.

BTA president Dr Raymond Forde disclosed the figure ahead of September’s Group II final against Venezuela after also playing host to Guatemala earlier this month.

“Staging this last tie has been excess of $90 000, having to pay duty on materials which are sent from the International Tennis Federation to dress the court because unfortunately one does not get tax relief on these things,” explained Forde.
