KEANU ASING and Claire Bevilacqua are the Barbados Surf Pro World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series 3 000 champions.

Asing won the men’s final in style impressing the judges so much on his final wave that four out of five of them awarded him a perfect 10. The fifth gave him a 9.50.

At the Drill Hall beach yesterday, the Hawaiian eventually won with a total wave score of 19.50 (10 and a 9.50), thrashing Australian Shane Campbell by 1.23 points.

Campbell received a total wave score of 18.17 (8.80 and 9.37) which, noted contest director Louis Venezia, would usually be enough to win, and comfortably at that. (RA)
