Cavs hold off champs Pinelands

DON’T FORGET about Station Hill.

Jason Smith picked a great time to return to the starting line-up, scoring six straight points to end a furious fourth-quarter rally as the young Cavs held off Orange 3 Pinelands 92-83 in Sunday’s Co-operators General Insurance Basketball Premier League.

It was sweet revenge at the Barbados Community College for the Cavaliers, who lost last season’s finals to the same opponents before they, too, fell short in a similar rally during the first regular season matchup.

But they were the ones that went up big this time, leading by as many as 23 points (70-49) before holding a comfortable 72-51 cushion in the fourth quarter. (JM)
