Parkinson’s affecting younger people

AN INCREASING number of women, as well as people in their 40s, are being affected by Parkinson’s disease.

This has been revealed by founder of the Barbados Parkinson’s Trust and Support Group, Cherry Vogt-Ward, who was speaking to the SUNDAY SUN before the group held its first seminar, in collaboration with Rotary West, yesterday at Limegrove cinema.

She said Parkinson’s – a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system – affected ten million people worldwide and the numbers in Barbados seem to be increasing.

“I would say there are more incidents of it here now,” she said. (HLE)
