WALES capitalised on the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme’s (BDFSP) first loss of the campaign to move three points clear at the top of the Digicel Premier League, with a 2-1 win over stuttering champions UWI Blackbirds.

Early strikes in either half from Arantees Lawrence and Hadan Holligan propelled Wales to 2-0 lead, when matches continued at the Wildey AstroTurf on Sunday.

But a strike from Dario “Ears” Harewood midway through the second half meant that the leaders had to work for the victory.

BDFSP, who were joint leaders with Wales, were dealt a chastening blow by Paradise, going down 3-0, courtesy of an Armando “Suga” Lashley hat-trick. (ML)
