SPECTATORS will be in for thrilling and tantalising treats on today’s first day of the finals in the Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

The track action should see some scintillating showdowns in the 100, 400 and 1500 metres and sprint hurdles.

The Under-20 Boys’ 400 metres final, where Harrison College’s Jonathan Jones and Antoni Hoyte-Small of St Michael take aim at Wilan Louis’ 2001 record of 47.18 seconds, should be captivating.

Jones, formerly of Coleridge Parry, who did the CARIFTA Games’ 800 and 1500 double last year, has added the 400 metres this season and isn’t contesting the longer race at BSSAC. (EZS)
