Lee: Engines at risk

DO NOT mix kerosene oil with diesel.

This warning was delivered by Morris Lee, president of the Association of Private Transport Operators, in response to reports that some drivers of public service vehicles were engaging in the practice.

Lee told the SUNDAY SUN that the mixing of kerosene and diesel was done years ago when gas stations were using high-sulphur diesel.

“The kerosene cannot be safely used with the low-sulphur diesel that we have now,” he said. “The diesel that we had prior to the low-sulphur diesel would’ve worked as a mixture with the kerosene at the time. Low-sulphur diesel is obviously of a higher quality, we are told, and it can lead to engine damage if it is used with kerosene.
