BARBADOS’ ECONOMIC situation is grim – but not hopeless.
However, said economist and university lecturer Dr Clyde Mascoll, there was a need for a change of leadership in the island.
“Having not been able to raise the [necessary] revenue, Government had to resort to other means to finance the deficit so for the first time, the Central Bank became a printing press,” he said.
Mascoll challenged Government to come forward and say what it planned to do and not expect the Opposition to put forward solutions. He added that Government needed to put plans in place to “protect politicians from themselves”. (CA)
