FOUR JAMAICANS WHO pleaded guilty to bringing cannabis into Barbados were fined and handed over to immigration officers for deportation on Wednesday.
The quartet arrived in the island on Sunday and they were interviewed by police after they cleared immigration.
They were subsequently referred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where they passed out a number of packages of cannabis.
Tamaro Denton was charged with possession and importation of cannabis after passing out two packages weighing nine grammes.
Rushane Smith was charged with possesion, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation for 23 packages weighing 0.5 kilogrammes.
Rohan Campbell and John Planter faced similar charges for 44 packets weighing one kilogramme and 59 packets weighing two kilogrammes, respectively.
In the District “C” Magistrates’ Court, Chief Magistrate Christopher Birch imposed a $200 fine on Denton and $2 000 fines on each of the others. They all paid forthwith. (PR/NB)
