THE NATIONAL UNION OF PUBLIC WORKERS (NUPW) is not backing down in its fight for an increase in salaries for public workers.
Saying that it was not a case of the union being a troublemaker, or not loving the country, president Akanni McDowall said if the NUPW realised the Government was willing to hold strain, it would do likewise in the interest of the country.
But, he said, in light of certain signals which suggested Government was not doing such, the union would continue to ensure its workers were “not taken for granted”.
McDowall’s comments came as he delivered remarks at a service to mark the 73rd anniversary of the union at the Cathedral Church of St Michael and All Angels yesterday. (HLE)
