NEW UNIVERSITY of the West Indies Cave Hill Guild president-elect Kai Bridgewater has promised full financial transparency during his tenure.

Last Wednesday the 20-year-old defeated Israel Johann Alpuche by over 600 points during the campus’ annual electoral process.

Speaking to the DAILY NATION, the Jamaican said being transparent was a major goal and promised “very detailed breakdowns” of what was being spent and what was gained so students could hold his office accountable.

“I’ve heard about corruption in the guild and lack of transparency and I think that brings down the reputation of the guild. I’d like to ensure that during my tenure we publish the financial statements not just at the annual general meeting once per semester, but we will publish every single month so that students know every month what is happening,” he said.
